Annotations:Inscription on the titlepage 'Rob. Hooke ex Auct: Grovij 1s May.7o.1697'.
Other notes:Hooke purchased this book at Bullord's auction of Robert Grove's library. The auction catalogue, The Library of the Right Reverend Father in God, Robert, late Lord Bishop of Chichester . . . will be sold by auction . . . on . . . the 27th [of April 1697] . . . lists this book as lot 375 in 'Libri Miscellanei, Octavo' on p. 24. Bullord's auction catalogue (ESTC citation no. R213427) is available online via EEBO.
The marginal notes and heavy-handed underlining throughout this book display a close reading uncharacteristic of Hooke when compared to the other surviving books from his library. The manuscript note "finis huius libri" and signature, both in an unfamiliar hand, at the end of the book point to the possibility that the annotations may instead be attributed to the previous owner, Robert Grove.
